Decent Cybersecurity at AHK Slovakia & PwC Dual-Use Products Event

On February 13, 2025, Decent Cybersecurity had the opportunity to participate in a high-profile event on dual-use products, organized by the German-Slovak Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Slovakia) and PwC. This gathering, called “Financing and Legal Framework for the Production and Trading of Dual-Use Products”, brought together industry leaders, regulatory experts, and financial institutions to discuss the legal, financial, and strategic implications of trading with dual-use products. Decent Cybersecurity was represented by our Senior IT Consultant, Pavol Krcho, PhD.

Opening Remarks: The event was officially opened by Juraj Haruštiak, Marco Trisciuzzi (Member of the Board, AHK Slowakei), and Ivo Doležal (Senior Consulting Partner, PwC). Their introduction emphasized the growing importance of dual-use products in global trade and security.

Legal Framework for Dual-Use Trade in Slovakia: The first presentation, led by Michal Pališin (Director, Attorney, PwC Legal), provided a detailed overview of how to define dual-use products in a product portfolio and the legal implications of their trade in Slovakia.

Export Permits for Dual-Use Products: Experts from the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic shared their practical experiences and outlined the rules and procedures for obtaining export permits, a crucial aspect for businesses engaged in this sector.

EU and NATO Funding Programs: A particularly insightful presentation by Valeryia Drabinovich (Manager, Grants & Incentives Team, Defence Sector, PwC) shed light on funding opportunities available through EU and NATO programs tailored for dual-use manufacturers.

EIB Financing for Security and Defence: Theodoros Andriopoulos, Senior Lending Officer at the European Investment Bank (EIB), discussed financial support mechanisms for large producers and corporations in the defence and security sector.

Networking and Discussions: During the event, our Senior IT Consultant, Pavol Krcho, PhD., engaged in valuable discussions with industry stakeholders, including Ms. Diana Budinská, Head of Innovation Support at NATO DIANA and Member of the NATO Innovation Fund LPAC.
