Decent Cybersecurity s.r.o. has formally launched a new research and development project focused on secure communications for space applications, with a total project volume exceeding €4 million. The project is funded under Program Slovensko 2021–2027 and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
The project, titled Bezpečná komunikácia vo vesmírnom výskume (Secure Communication in Space Research), is implemented on the basis of a Grant Agreement for a Non-Repayable Financial Contribution and a Partnership Agreement governing cooperation between the project participants. Both documents have been signed, have entered into force, and are published in full below for transparency and compliance purposes.
The total project volume of more than €4 million covers research and development activities implemented jointly by Decent Cybersecurity and its project partner, in accordance with the approved project budget and the conditions set out in the grant agreement.
The objective of the project is research in the field of post-quantum cryptography and the development of secure communication solutions suitable for space environments. The research addresses secure voice and data communication between astronauts and ground personnel, communication between spacecraft or space stations and Earth, and communication between ground stations using satellite networks. The project focuses on scenarios where communications must remain confidential and reliable over long periods of time, including in the context of future quantum computing capabilities.
Decent Cybersecurity acts as the main partner and project leader. In this role, the company is responsible for the overall coordination of the project, the implementation of research activities, financial management, reporting, and full compliance with European Union and national regulatory requirements applicable to the use of public funds.
The project is implemented in partnership with FREQUENTIS Solutions & Services s.r.o., which participates as an official project partner under a dedicated partnership agreement. The cooperation combines Decent Cybersecurity’s expertise in cryptography and secure system design with FREQUENTIS’ experience in mission-critical and aerospace communication systems.
The project is carried out under the call PSK-MSVVM-021-2024-DV-EFRR – SPACE, which is aimed at advanced research and development activities with relevance to the space sector. Funding is provided through a combination of advance payments and reimbursements and is subject to continuous monitoring, audits, and the fulfilment of defined measurable indicators. The project is also subject to a five-year sustainability period following its completion.
This project further strengthens Decent Cybersecurity’s position in the field of space and satellite communication security and supports its long-term focus on post-quantum cryptography and high-assurance systems aligned with European research and innovation priorities.
At Decent Cybersecurity, we believe that groundbreaking research should be built on a foundation of trust and accountability. As this project is supported by public resources, we are committed to full transparency regarding its operational and legal framework. To ensure the general public has access to how these funds are governed and how our partnerships are structured, we are providing the official agreements for review:
